We got less than one inch of snow in MD the other day. This is how over salted our roads are. Yes I drive further than most people so I’m exposed to a little more salt, but this is crazy.

my bike chain needs replacing soon as its damn near rusted stuck from all the salt.... and we’ve had 1 snow flurry and a couple nights of barely freezing here....
our salters are over eager madmen who wait all year for the opportunity to salt all the things... a lot
(course if they didnt do it we’d probably string em up for failing to do their jobs.....)

The worst I have seen from overactive salting was definitely last year in NJ. I think it was October and they decided to salt the roads one day because it was forcasted for around 40 degrees and raining, but you never know it might freeze over unexpectedly! I was still on my summer tires in my Miata and I was driving down a street and realized I was driving over a bunch of salt. I was like what the hell it aint winter yet. I did not need to put on my winter tires until a month later so that was way too early to bring that shit out.

Its like that in Sussex County, Delaware, too. A light dusting of snow, followed by above freezing daytime temperatures for several days in a row, and they just had to cover all the roads in a thick crusting of salt. Total overreaction, it was too warm for anything to even stick to paved surfaces.
